CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
This is where I will include our classroom expectations which will be decided together.
MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
My philosophy of teaching evolved from my own educational experiences. My mission as a teacher is as follows:
As a teacher, I will give my students authentic learning experiences to the best of my ability and within my authority. My goal is to not only have my students learn the curriculum, but to also prepare them for the real world. It is my hope that students enjoy the learning process while realizing their potential and what they are capable of achieving.
Education provides opportunity for the future, which is exactly what I want for my students. In order to achieve this, I strongly believe in knowing and fully understanding the students in my classroom. Every student comes into the classroom with varying levels of prior knowledge, different needs/wants, different personal experiences, different learning styles, etc. and should be provided with opportunities to learn in a manner that best suits them. Understanding both the learning style of individual learners and the cultural diversity of the class/group helps me teach more effectively.
By sharing my passion for teaching and learning, and using these principles with enthusiasm, connects with learners. As a result, teaching with clarity, passion, empathy, and sincere enthusiasm, effectively impacts learners ultimately connecting them to their ‘passion’ and lifelong learning.
- to provide authentic experiences;
- to promote positive learning;
- and to provide a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
