WHO IS MISS DOPPLER?
Hello! My name is Miss Doppler, it is great to meet you! Here I will give a brief bio of myself so you can get to know me a little better!
First you should know that I am a pre-service teacher in the Faculty of Education at Brandon University. I will be graduating May 2014 with a middle-years focused teaching degree. Prior to this, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in the spring of 2012, with a major in Math and a minor in Geography. I attended Vincent Massey High School in Brandon, St. Martha Catholic School in Kingston, Ontario and Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic School in Ottawa, Ontario.
I grew up in a military family, so naturally we moved a lot. I had the privilege of living in Edmonton, the Netherlands, Ottawa, Kingston and now in Brandon. My parents and extended family grew up in Saskatchewan, so naturally I am a Rough Riders Fan! Go Riders Go!
Swimming is also a big part of my life. I swam competitively for about 6 years with the Kingston Shark Swim Club as well as the Brandon Bluefins. After my swimming career, I chose to continue my involvement in the sport by becoming a coach, lifeguard and swim instructor (infant to adult). I coached with the Brandon Bluefins for 2-3 years and also coached the Manitoba Summer Games Swim Team in 2012. I started work as a lifeguard/swim instructor at the YMCA for a period of 3 summers and have since been employed at the Brandon's Community Sportsplex (6 years). Through these many experiences, I found my passion... to teach!
While in the Faculty of Education, I have had nothing but great teaching experiences! My first placement was at Waverly Park School. I was placed with Mrs. McKellar in grade 7/8 classes, where I taught both English and French. My second placement was at St. Augustine School with Mr. Kanski and Mrs. Campbell. There I taught in a grade 5 classroom teaching most classroom subjects. For my third placement, I taught at O'Kelly School at CFB Shilo. This time I was placed in a grade 1/2 class with Mrs. Thompson. For my fourth and final placement, I have the amazing opportunity to teach in Kuwait at the American Creative Academy.
I am looking forward to finishing my degree, finding a teaching position and continuing to pursue my passion of teaching.
